Give up your burdens

With each care, it grows

The bundle on your back

Of worries and woes

The place your wings were meant to

Spirits were made to soar

The ones all around us know

Guardians

Guides

Ancestors

They go by many names

Constantly, they whisper to us

“Give us your burdens”

Of light, and looking to

lighten our load

They implore

“We are much stronger together. And we are stronger than you alone.

You can let go the weight of the world

Of others’

And even your own.”

Give them that

You know how it feels

When you lend someone a hand

And it was nothing for you

But it was everything for them?

Do not be a miser

Keeping that satisfaction to yourself

Like Gold

Give that up too

Afford others the feeling of lightness

That comes from bringing another up

It’s like flying

It comes so easily

As if our natural state

So let everything go

Shed your tears into the moonlight of my soul

For me, they cast reflections of your light

It is not heavy for me to hold

What for you is a mountain

Unload your burdens and let me wash your feet

They are easier for me to reach

I need no thanks

I take no offenses

You do not impose

You can rest yourself at banks of my river

Holding you is as easy as its flow

So give up your burdens

And if you can’t,

Give that up too.

We are all each other’s angels

And we each have our own

So give away all

That we can fly together
